From Tau Beta SigmaThe sisters of Epsilon Theta are looking forward to continue our service to the band this fall. In the spring, we had the pleasure of hosting the concert reception for Dr. Andrea Strauss’ final concert as Director of Bands here at Tech. Dr. Strauss was also our chapter sponsor, and we wish her the best in her future endeavors. That semester, we also continued traditional spring service activities like Brownie Day, where we help Girl Scouts earn there music badges, and representing the band at both Connect with Tech sessions and Girls Night Out, an overnight program which gives prospective female students the opportunity to experience Georgia Tech. The chapter is especially excited to celebrate the GT Band’s Centennial this fall. During band camp, we provided lunch for a day of the percussion/guard camp as well as lunch for the whole band on another day. We have also assisted the directors with the auditions for the Symphonic and Concert bands. Although Epsilon Theta has many worthwhile continuous projects, we have been brainstorming for new ideas for fundraising and service projects, including community outreach opportunities. As for the Centennial celebration, the sisters are looking forward to the Alumni’s reception after the Surround Sounds concert the night before the homecoming game. We also are excited to see everyone at the homecoming reception that we host after the homecoming game on Oct. 25. Thank you for your support of TBS and I hope everyone has a great fall! |

From the Band Club Greetings! Band club is just as busy as ever this year, especially helping to plan the celebration of our centennial! We are very excited about the ideas and work that is going into planning for homecoming and the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. Elections were held in the spring this year, as opposed to the fall like years past. Since I've come into office, band club has done a few gigs, played whirly ball, gone camping, and had a delicious taco lunch for band camp. For the rest of the year, we're looking forward to an amazing football season, dinner with the alumni following the surround sounds concert, band banquet, and plenty other trips and gigs. We look forward to seeing the alumni in October! Melissa Wheeler Band Club President 2008-2009 |
