The GTBAA Executive Board is monitoring the progression and ever-changing state of the global pandemic. It should go without saying that the health and safety of our fellow alumni, family, friends, and the Georgia Tech community is the highest priority for the Board. As such, the program and scheduling is likely to remain fluid through registration opening and potentially after it closes and GT Band Alumni should expect that there may be some protocols to be followed in order to participate in the 2021 Alumni Band.
The Board will be working with the Georgia Tech Band directors and staff, the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, and any other organizations on campus as well as taking in account the current CDC guidance and recommendations to ensure our alumni are kept safe.
Q: What do we wear?
A: We will be wearing:
If the weather calls for it, you are welcome to wear a white GTBAA fleece. GTBAA polos, fleeces, and ball caps are available for purchase through the online store. Due to the supply chain and economic situation resulting from the global pandemic and other external factors, supply is limited in certain sizes, so please ensure you work to have a suitable alternative. WHITE should be the outer most layer.
Auxiliaries: Please wear the alumni jacket and black yoga pants. Dress for the weather, but ensure that your uniform is in order for the pregame performance.
Q: What time does toe meet leather on GAMEDAY?
A: The earliest we will know is Monday, November 1. The ACC can still take the 6-day option to announce the kickoff time for a Georgia Tech home game this season, to our knowledge.
Q: Can my family join me?
A: Yes! Your family is absolutely welcome to join you during all of our pregame activities up until marchdown. Due to NCAA regulations, which have been in place since 2007, nobody under the age of 18 years old is allowed on the field and sidelines. Only participating band alumni will be allowed in the stadium section with the Yellow Jacket Marching Band.
Q: Do I need a ticket to the game?
A: In working with Chris Moore in the planning, we believe that there will be adequate room in the YJMB's section to accommodate the Alumni Band, so Alumni Band participants will not require a separate ticket this year. Do keep in mind that only participating Alumni Band members will be allowed in the section with the YJMB.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: This year, the total homecoming registration fee is $35. This covers off a Friday evening event, GAMEDAY meal, and everything associated with making the weekend happen.
Q: What about music?
A: We will work to have the music available electronically to those who have signed up in the week leading up to Alumni Band Reunion Weekend!
